The Importance of Training in Patience

Gelong Jangchub Phüntsog

Weekend course on Buddhism - English spoken, Dutch translation

Teacher

Gelong Changchub Phüntsog is senior monk and disciple at Rabten Choeling monastery (www.rabten.eu). We are happy that he will come to our centre in the Hague and share his knowledge with us: not just the theory, but also the actual practice of the teaching.

Course

Patience is an important quality, for everybody. In Buddhism however, this quality is taught in particular. Patience is the antidote against hatred and dislike. So, if we wish for less aggression and conflict in our lives and in the world, then the only route is to practice patience. This is not a passive attitude, but an active state of wisdom and compassion.

The 12 Links of Interdependent Origination

Gonsar Tulku Rinpoche

Weekend course on Buddhism - English spoken, Dutch translation

16. and 17. March 2019

The Buddha explains in his teaching that our present existence is unsatisfying – we experience obvious forms of suffering and pain or states of relative but temporal peace. But fundamental and lasting happiness escapes us. The teaching on the 12 Links of Interdependent Origination explains how we mentally create such an existence, life after life, day after day, and in fact each moment of time. When we understand the psychological processes of the Twelve Links we can get a grip on them. We can then turn back the cycle up until the fundamental ignorance which is at its root. In this way we can attain a state of true Liberation.

This is part 3. Sound recordings of part 1 and 2 can be ordered from Rabten Jigme ling.
